I Finally got to see the Friends Reunion and it left me a bit emotional. I have never been much of a tv watcher, preferring to read a book, but a few shows really resonated with me
The Brady Bunch was like my family…well, the one I really wanted. My siblings and I are years apart so I didn’t have a lot of people to play with and my Foster Sister was the complete opposite of me, and didn’t stay long.
Then, there was Seinfeld. The conversations and things they pondered were very interesting, and taught me to see the world in a different light.
Friends was incredible! I remember wishing I had friends like that and being able to see myself and a few of my friends, in some of the characters. Friends was one of those shows that I had a hard time when it ended.
What are 3 shows that made a difference to your life and why?
*For some reason, I am not sure this one actually posted. If it did, you get to read it again.
I thought it would be fun to share a normal day of our lives; so, we can see how we all live. Please share your day with me in the comments.
Being on Disability, my days are not always the same and there is no real schedule.
I wake up, feed the cats and make my coffee. While sipping coffee, I read my Bible verse of the day (per Weather Bible), then my favorite comics (Pushnami), then catch up on blogs. After that, it’s Breakfast and getting dressed.
The rest of the day goes by how I am feeling and what I feel like doing. I usually call Cin to see if she wants to get together… like today, we might go to Camping World to look at RV’s. I try to fit a little bit of cleaning or organizing into most of my days especially now that I am planning to move but I still wind up playing to many games on my phone. Depending on weather, I will also get my walking in by going to the mailboxes and taking the long way back….Yeah, I almost said “Long Way Home” so, now the song is stuck in my head…You’re Welcome!
While eating, I like to watch food shows like My 600 lb Life and Sorted.
Every night, I take out the trash and recycle before bed and I usually watch my True Crime Shows.
Missed the Friends Reunion because I don’t have HBO Max. Even signed up for Hulu after reading that you could get HBO Max as part of their free trial; but alas, you can’t. So, now I have to wait for it to be shown on YouTube.
Watched the Happy Days Reunion on YouTube that I missed, last year. Actually, I only missed it then because I wasn’t going to donate to the Democratic Party in order to watch it, but, I digress. It was okay. Brought back some good memories.
That was when shows were wholesome and cool, plus, most had life lessons. I can’t stand a lot of the crap shows today. Most of the “Reality” shows really aren’t “Reality”.. which is just false advertising.
Maybe that’s one reason I like True Crime. You can’t make that stuff up.
My mother used to make Christmas Cookies to share with the hospital staff..I was in the hospital for check-ups a lot due to my disease..and teachers. She made Butter Balls, Bourbon Balls and more! The Bourbon Balls were deliciously strong and you always had to gargle before driving and carry extra in case a policeman pulled you over. I also love Gingerbread Men..Hey, when you get annoyed just bite it’s head off, and Maple Leaves.
So many cartoons were on during Christmas time! Santa Clause Is Coming To Town, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph, and one of my favorites..A Charlie Brown Christmas. …No, I am not getting into the controversy…But, I love the idea of the sad little tree that needed love, the Christmas play with Lucy wanting to be the Christmas Queen and Linus explaining the true meaning of Christmas. What’s your favorite Christmas cartoon?
As for clothing, I love to have reason to dress up. So many clothes are themed now with reindeer, snowmen, Santa, elves and even cats singing carols; and if you don’t like dressing up with themes, the colors of the season are fun, too.
While I know this is my month to share about Christmas…Never mind Christmas in July…Tomorrow is Easter and I hope you all have a good one, however you choose to celebrate.
Ever since my BFF made a weird comment, I’ve been analyzing my interests and why I watch what I do.
I am interested in Cooking Shows because I like the creativity and competition. They encourage me to try new things. Plus, Worst Cooks In America makes me feel like a Pro. I like True Crime and Serial Killer documentaries because I was in an abusive relationship and don’t ever want to do that again…it was mental, but still abusive…., plus, it’s amazing how long it takes to catch these people. I like true stories about Polygamy, Cult Survivors, Homelessness and Weight Loss because I have never lived those situations
And lastly, I like shows and documentaries about Hoarding and Hoarders because I have had and have friends that are. I am learning how people think and process, as well as, how to be around them in their environments for long periods of time, also, as how to support them and help to encourage a healthier lifestyle. I don’t understand how so many Hoarders go from clutter to becoming slobs or why they don’t have pride in the items they possess. I mean, if you want to save it, wouldn’t you want whatever it is to be accessible and seen verses on the floor in a pile?
I collect certain dolls and knick-knacks. They are packed in boxes now for a future move but they are usually kept in a China Cabinet where I can see them and they can’t get ruined. I grew up in a very clean home. Heck, we had a Living Room we were rarely allowed to go in and two chairs in that room were antique and we were rarely allowed to use them. My BFF on the other hand, had the complete opposite upbringing and the smell from dirty dishes penetrated the environment. She is now a mother of 5 and I think two of the 5 have gone the clean route, one to the extreme, one is just like her or worse and the other two I can’t tell yet because they still live at home.
Anyway, I think I watch a lot of shows to learn and keep my brain cells firing, as I age.
