Getting Saved, Etc..

My friend over at PurpleSlobInRecovery has been sharing a lot about her Christian Walk, and has requested I share my Testimony.

I was raised as a Catholic and was Baptized as a baby, but, that is not the same as a accepting Christ as my personal Savior! I have always loved to read and my mother kept giving me books. The books were about children in my age group…I was 13 at the time… and I soon discovered they all had the same ending. “Then, I discovered Christ as my Savior, blah.. blah.. blah.” It got to where I would read the last page first, due to the predictability. So, one day, I threw the book across the room and said, “Okay, God, Change Me!”. Mind you, I was 13! The fireworks or lightening I expected didn’t happen, so I was like “Okay, Whatever”. But, the next morning, it was like my world changed! I was seeing clearer and even smelling the flowers! More aware and grateful for the things God put around me.

PurpleSlob is adding something she is grateful for, in her daily Posts until Thanksgiving, so I have decided to try to do the same. I will try to add one thing at the end.

In other news- I was really sick last night and this morning, but am doing better. I hate being sick at other people’s places, but technically, I don’t have my own place, so…

In Good News- Cin saw a bunch of furniture by the Dumpster, so we are really hoping/praying the neighbors are moving soon so I can get my own place. Even small, it can’t be much smaller than the space I have here, plus, I can get my babies, back.

*While I know I complain a bit, I am grateful to Cindy for taking me in. I am sure it was hard to open her house to another person and their cat. That is a sign of a true friend, and I am thankful that God put her in my life.

Saturday Sharing

Good Morning Class,

Today is a bit different as, I thought we should share where we were or how we heard about the events of 9/11; this being the 20th Anniversary! Most of the bloggers I follow are doing blogs about it, but if you aren’t or just still want to Share, Please do so in the comments.

2001, and I had just gotten married to Idiot in May. I was a Switchboard Operator for the corporate office of Bally Total Fitness in California.

September 11th, I worked from 6 til 3. I hadn’t been at work long and was walking through the showroom when one of the televisions on the bicycle screen showed the first plane hit the Twin Towers. I remember a bunch of us watching in horror as the 2nd plane hit! I called my mom and woke her up, telling her to turn on her television set. Then, I called Idiot. Yes, I think I called my mother, first. Idiot worked for the Naval Base, as a civilian, and the news was saying they weren’t sure if the terrorists would go after the bases. Idiot told me the base was put on strict lockdown and it was a bitch getting on, even as an employee.

Every year, I watch the videos of the events with the people calling from the planes to the survivors stories. I continue to pray for the families of all affected.

That event led to my fear of staying in tall buildings for very long. An apartment penthouse has no appeal to me.

Thrifting

Do you enjoy shopping at Thrift Stores?  I do.  You can actually find some nice things.

Cin and I went to the Goodwill today, as I had another full bag to donate and decided to walk around since we had never checked out that one.  It’s large and part of a nearby Mall.

At first, I was surprised because for it being large, a lot of the shelves were sparse.  Then, I noticed why.  As fast as new items are being placed, people are snatching them up.  It’s crazy!

I usually go for the books, but unless it’s one I really want, $1.99 seems a bit expensive for a paperback.   I did find a deal on something I really needed!  A Samsung Television Set with Remote from 2015 for $44.99.  My television set is really old and the volume barely works anymore.  It’s an LG.  But, this new set is really nice and I don’t have to turn it to max and sit close to hear it!  Plus, the picture is amazing! A gentleman who was standing near us as we were checking it out said he would purchase it, if I didn’t.

I also got this guy for $2.99

Isn’t he cute? I am not much into sports, but, being originally from California; he brings back memories of the Angel games I attended, plus, he’s Purple!

Cin does crochet and found some inexpensive yarn, while there.

What fun things have you found while Thrifting?

Throwing Out Pictures, Etc..

As the title says, yesterday I went through my Photo Albums and threw out all the pictures of my first husband, his friends and family.  With the way things ended, I neither need nor want photo memories of that time.  I did keep a few pictures of my old house and some of our animals, though.  We had a really cool Tortoise named Zeus, and he was awesome!

Had a really weird dream last night that is impossible to explain.  My mother was in it being seriously psycho, my sisters were in it, my friend from Texas was in it, in a way and my first boyfriend was in it.  They say dreams usually are reminders or based on your deepest thoughts, but, I couldn’t even begin to piece that, together.

Signed up for the Colors Exchange on Reddit. I hope I get someone who is into a fun color and fun to buy for. Matching is on the 18th! My Texas Friend is doing it, too and truthfully, I hope we don’t get matched because we like to share who and what we get for others.

Animals & Patience

Yesterday, I visited the neighbors who got another new cat. Now, they have 2 cats and a bird. Bad Idea. They asked my opinion and after observing one of the cats obsessing over the bird..well… Cin would love to have a bird but, she would be in the same situation in an even smaller area. I had that situation once and wound up giving the bird to my mother.

The Mortgage Girl took a few days off to celebrate her Birthday, but, I have asked her to do a Hard Pull on my credit, tomorrow to see where I am at. It’s hard to be patient when there is literally nothing you can do to change the situation.

My turn to share…
Paul says: Tell me about you and food. What do you like to eat? What don’t you like to eat? What foods are overrated? What condiments do you stay away from? Any fun food stories from your past?

Let’s see, I am a Flexitarian which means I am a Vegetarian but I also eat Fish and Chicken, occasionally.  When, I did eat meat, I enjoyed Liver. I have always been a picky eater… partially because I have a rare, metabolic disorder and most food would cause me to hurl…. but as I grew older I have branched out to a lot of different cuisines. I love Italian, but not Tomato Sauce.. although, I do like Tomato Paste. I think the main cuisines I am not overly fond of are Hawaiian and Mexican. Although, there was the time we went to a Luau in Hawaii and I finished my and my parents Poi before they explained what it was. I really couldn’t figure out why they served Chocolate Pudding before dinner. HA!

Anyway, I believe I Bolded my answers.

Check out, The Captains Speech if you want to participate.

Blaming The Heat?

I almost forgot to Post tonight. Maybe the heat is getting to me. Lol. In truth, though, it is 111 F right now at 10 p.m. You won’t hear me complain about it much, though because that is one of the reasons I moved to Las Vegas in the first place!

Here’s a quick, music question for you:

Name a song that you were hearing/singing the wrong lyrics until someone corrected you.

Please don’t say ‘Blinded By The Light’s unless it’s the only one you can remember.

Mine is titled; ‘Oxygen’. The actual lyrics are, “Love is like Oxygen, You get to much, you get to high…’. For years, I thought it said, “Love is like Hotsy Plunge..”. I was like what the heck is a Hotsy Plunge?

Looking forward to hearing your misheard lyrics in the comments.

* I would also love to hear your definitions of a Hotsy Plunge. HA

Missed Friends

So Annoyed!

Missed the Friends Reunion because I don’t have HBO Max.  Even signed up for Hulu after reading that you could get HBO Max as part of their free trial; but alas, you can’t.  So, now I have to wait for it to be shown on YouTube.

Watched the Happy Days Reunion on YouTube that I missed, last year.  Actually, I only missed it then because I wasn’t going to donate to the Democratic Party in order to watch it, but, I digress.  It was okay. Brought back some good memories.

That was when shows were wholesome and cool, plus, most had life lessons. I can’t stand a lot of the crap shows today. Most of the “Reality” shows really aren’t “Reality”.. which is just false advertising.

Maybe that’s one reason I like True Crime. You can’t make that stuff up.

Why I Detest The Color, Pink!

A few days ago, I posted about my favorite color which is Purple 💜 and the fact that I Hate & Detest the color Pink!  Seriously, I refuse to even own anything with Pink unless it’s a cat toy they chew up.  Food is okay because it doesn’t stick around.

Anyway, I am now going to tell you all why I feel this way:

My Grandmother was a very mean and selfish woman.  I seriously have no good memories of her.  I visited and stayed in her apartment once.  Her favorite color was Pink.  From the carpet to the walls to the towels..you couldn’t get away from it.  It looked like a Pepto-Bismal explosion.  She also had 4-6 locks on the door including a hook to hold the doorknob.  I was terrified if there were a fire I would have to jump out the window and land on the cement, below! I firmly believe that has a lot to do with my hatred of the color.

Of course, I was never in to frilly, lacy, crap either and the color being discussed fits right in with that.

Do you have a color you hate? Any particular reason why?

A-Z Challenge-Y = Yankee Swap

Are you ready to learn how to play a cool, party game?

This game has many names and many ways to play. One name for it is Yankee Swap and that’s how I am referring to it since we are on the letter Y. This game is not only played at Christmas, but can be played at other occasions, too.

Here is how I/you/most people play:

Get a group together and have each person bring a wrapped gift. Set a budget or bring something from home.. this is where you can get rule creative. When the person arrives, put the gift on the table and give the person a number. Don’t number the gifts. Once everyone has arrived and has numbers, the game can start. The amount of gifts will equal the amount of people, unless you bring extra.. just in case. Person 1 picks their gift and opens it. Yay, it’s a clock!..No, it does not have to be a clock. It probably won’t be. Let’s not get overly literal, here… 2nd person gets called, they can take the clock…or whatever it is… or open a new gift. If they take the clock…or whatever it is…, Person 1 opens a new gift..and so on .until all gifts are off the table. Gifts can be swapped 3x and once you have had a gift in your hands, you can’t get it back.

Some people don’t like this game, but, I think it’s fun! We played it at my Wedding Shower, though and my relatives were holding on to everything so when my turn came, I turned to my new Aunt and said, “I love you Aunt Jod, but I really love your candle.” and took it; thereby causing her to Swap. My mother got annoyed saying I was terrible and should not have done that because I was the Bride; but, that’s how you play the game!

Usually, you get some funny and some serious gifts, which is what makes it even more fun. At my church Swap, someone even brought a Betta Fish with bowl and food.

So, now you have a new party game to try! I hope you play it, sometime and find it fun.

And tomorrow is Z. The last letter of the alphabet. Endings always make me sad.

But, don’t worry, I have come up with tomorrow’s word, and will do this again next year.
