Last Quiz

Yay, and Boo for being the final Captains Quiz, but at least I can participate and I am sure some more will come next year!

That being said,. Here I Go:

1. Santa Claus is on a health kick this holiday season. Instead of milk and cookies, what snacks would you leave out for him?

I love raw vegetables so how about some Broccoli and Cauliflower Florets with sides of Ranch And Hummus for dipping. As for a drink, you can’t go wrong with a thermos full of hot water and his choice of flavored, herbal tea. Grab some honey or sugar cubes for the Reindeer while you’re on the way out!

2. Picture your 8-year-old self. You are home alone during the holidays, when burglars try to break in to your house. What do you do?

Burglars?..Oh, Heck No, I would be hiding somewhere and when they didn’t notice, I would sneak out.. maybe through a window, and run to my neighbors house to have someone call for help. I’m 8! Who am I to encounter a Burglar?

3. Have you ever bought a gift for someone else that you wanted to keep for yourself? If so, what was it?

Yep! A long time ago, I bought a stuffed bear for my BFF who collected stuffed animals, for Christmas. But, I fell in love with it. When I visited her house and saw the way she took care of things…or didn’t, I came home and unwrapped the bear keeping it for myself, and bought her a different stuffed animal that wouldn’t show dirt as much. No, I never told her and probably never will.

4. Which would you rather build: a snowman or a snow fort? Explain your decision.

A Snowman! I love Snowmen plus, it takes a lot of work just to build those! I don’t like playing in snow because I don’t really like cold weather. Plus, the song is ‘Frosty-The-Snowman’ not ‘Frost House-The-Snow Fort’

5. It is your job to remind others to drive safely in treacherous winter conditions. Write a Public Service Announcement that will play on the radio this winter.

Ladies and Gentlemen:. May I have your attention please! Due to the cold front coming through and other treacherous weather conditions in your areas; we would like to remind you to please drive safely this Holiday! You don’t need to drive to fast over the River or through the Woods to reach your destinations. Thank You.. This has been a Public Service Announcement.

6. There is a holiday party at your workplace and everyone must bring in one dish of food to share. What are you bringing?

Spinach Dip in a Bread Bowl. My Spinach Dip is a bit different than the package in that I don’t like Water Chestnuts… Heck, those don’t even roast on an open fire!.. and I use Black Olives and lots of Garlic. Plus, with the Bread Bowl, the plate issue is at least partially solved.

7. Someone got you a hippopotamus for Christmas because you insisted, “only a Hippopotamus will do”. How did they give it to you?

Some people can be super nice and creative in gift giving! I love my Hippo! I was told we were going to visit the Zoo at Christmas but I didn’t know I would have my own Hippo! His exhibit had purple balloons everywhere.. because that’s my favorite color.. and I got to feed him and brush him. I named him Hilbert and I can visit him anytime I want because he’s mine.

8. What advice would you give someone who isn’t good at wrapping presents?

Here, Let me teach you like my mother taught me. Lay the paper down and put the box on top. Now cut around the box. Cute even for the edges if possible. Okay. Now fold the side across the back like so and tape. Then, crease the edges like this and fold, now tape. If you want to add extra tape, that’s fine. Add your bow and tag at the end.

9. In the movie, Home Alone, Kevin McCallister says, “Be sure to bundle up if you go outside. It’s a little nippy.” How do you stay warm when it’s cold?

It was cold today and I went to Starbucks. But on normal, cold days, I prefer to bundle up in my pajamas and robe and slippers, if I have nowhere to go and read books or watch movies while drinking something hot like Cocoa, Coffee or Tea. If I have to go out, I prefer to bundle up in Sweats and Long Sleeves as well as a warm jacket preferably with a hoodie and boots

10. Are you a Dasher or a Dancer? Why?

After my morning Coffee, I can become a Dasher but that depends on my plans for the day. I am also a Dancer as I have been known to dance to the music in the grocery stores and casinos if it’s any good. So, I guess I am a combination of the two. Hey, maybe you can call me a Dashancer!

1. Santa is about to put you on the naughty list this year. Convince him he’s making a mistake and that you were a good person in 2021.

Dear Santa,. I don’t understand. Let me share some of the nice things I did this year. I have given food to the hungry. I even volunteered at a Food Bank. I have done favors for and helped my friend when she was sick. I have tried to remember Birthdays and other occasions and wished people well. And, despite my age, I still believe in you and the Spirit of Christmas. I do hope you will reconsider.

2. There have been allegations that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was bullied by his fellow reindeer. The North Pole calls you in to give the reindeer a stern talking-to. What do you say?

Gather Round Everyone! – You know, I remember what it was like to be bullied for being different. I was the smallest and skinniest child in class. I was called ‘Skinny Bones Jones’ and ‘Sticks’ plus, I wasn’t good at sports so I was always the last to be picked on the team. It really hurt my feelings and it took me a long time to get my self-confidence back. I want you all to put yourself in Rudolph’s shoes..or nose.. and see how you would like it. There won’t be anymore Reindeer Games if I get this report, again!

3. On the television show, The OC, Seth Cohen created Chrismukkah as a way to celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah. Meanwhile, on Seinfeld, George Costanza’s family celebrates Festivus – a secular and non-commercial holiday – on December 23. Create your own alternate winter holiday and tell me all about it. What’s it called? What are the traditions? Who can celebrate?

Window Look Out Day! This is the one day when you look out the window and admire the beauty! Yes, it’s cold out. So, light a fire and stay warm. But, be extra thankful for the natural beauty God has provided. Watch the Birds or Deer, whatever is in your area, and throw them some extra food. Teach your children about others who live in cold climates like Iceland or the North Pole. Pop some Popcorn, as well. This is one day to Be Thankful, Focus on the cold, and stay Warm. I think the end of January would be appropriate. Let’s make it the last Friday of January each year and give the children a 3 day weekend. Their parents can take over for one day.

Answers are due by Festivus – next Thursday, December 23 at Noon! Results will be posted on Christmas Eve.

Good luck!

Progress & Humor

I have found a few possible condos on Zillow that would be cheaper then here even with the monthly payment. So, I have contacted a Lender to see if I Prequalify for anything. Prayers, Please.

I am considering putting my house up for sale within the next few weeks. We shall see. Hey, if God wants this to happen, it will!

As for humor, here is another page from my Punctuation Calendar. Remember, Comma’s are very important!

A-Z Challenge-E = Elves

I must say I have some smart I Followers.  Katiegirl06460 got it right for today’s topic….You really should check out her blog.  Like me, it’s pretty much her daily life…

Anyway, before I continue, just a quick update.  Today sucked.  I got a double Migraine so bad I almost thought I would wind up in the hospital.  I thank God for taking the pain away.

So, today’s Christmas topic is Elves:

Now, I didn’t really feel like doing research on Elves but we all know they help Santa make toys.  I have to wonder what requirements are on the application.. aside from some wood working experience.  I mean, you would have to be honest if you are going to help Santa with his lists of good and bad children, you would have to work well with others, plus, you would have to like animals since you would be taking care of the reindeer.  Plus, some Elves need to be able to cook, sew and clean.  But, Santa does provide room and board, and it seems like a lot of fun, I’ve noticed.

The first Elves made most toys from wood and they would literally have to keep track of all the children. Now, with technology, the tracking is easier but they need to know how to work with plastics and machines to crank out the same toys over and over. I don’t think that would be as much fun.

I wonder how many children wanted to be an Elf or where Santa found the Little People, he hired. Were a lot of them family members from those in The-Wizard-Of-Oz? and here’s a thought… Could Santa be related to an Elf in the past?

Just some thoughts before I post tomorrow about Christmas and the letter F. Should be Fun,…but.. maybe not.

Cereal & Pride NOT Proud of Cereal

Hey Guys

The word for the week via The Confusing Middle is Cereal. You really should check out the site and take part in some prompts.

That being said:

I am not a Breakfast person. Never have been. When I was young, my mother said I had to eat something after getting up even if it was just a piece of cake. While I do enjoy pancakes, toast, hash-browns, crepes and Cereal, I do not necessarily eat them for Breakfast.

When it comes to cold cereal, I love Lucky Charms…What’s not to like? They’re magically delicious! Plus, they are Gluten-free. I become a kid again eating the Cereal first then enjoying spoonfuls of marshmallows. Sometimes, I will just eat it dry from the box, as a snack. I also like a few of the other gluten-free Cereals out there. Vanilla Oats or Pumpkin & Flax Seed. I feel good knowing I am making healthy choices with those. As far as hot Cereal, I grew up on Cream-of-Wheat and Oatmeal. I used to love Cream-of-Wheat until I became gluten-free and while Oatmeal is okay, I have to be in the mood for it.

Today is the 14th Anniversary of my Kidney Transplant, and in that aspect, I am doing fine. Not a party throwing occasion but I am still proud. God isn’t ready for me, yet.

Gifting Obsessed

I admit it. I am Obsessed. I love getting gifts for people. I have so much fun finding the perfect gift for a Birthday or Holiday. One that reflects me yet, helps the recipient to have a wonderful celebration!

My friend Bri and I used to always try to top each other with weird least until a few years ago. However, I have done it now! He is turning 60 and I am sending him a Potato Parcel. Yep, it’s exactly as it sounds..a funny box containing a potato with a message on it. I also added a plush potato since I am sure the real one will rot eventually.

Anyway, I keep lists of friends likes and dislikes as well as lists of what I’ve given the year before so as not to give duplicates. I would probably make a good personal shopper via internet for those that don’t have time. But, I would need to figure out how the payment aspect would work..or I suppose I could simply make recommendations.

I used to put boxes together for victims of fires, floods, etc..I would mail them to the city that was damaged and then started asking for acknowledgments of where they were received. I remember the first box I mailed contained a skirt and a flower pot. My mother thought I was being ridiculous..but you don’t know what people miss when they have lost Everything! Anyway, after 9/11 hit, I couldn’t mail my boxes without a specific name or address.

I did help a few locals after nearby fires but I had to sneak so the Red Cross didn’t see me. Now with COVID, that’s not possible. That was another possible at home idea, but of course, that’s charity and no way to make money.

I recolored my hair today and I love it!

Normalcy For Me

It is a beautiful day, today and I feel back to semi-normal. I think a lot of my headaches as of late could be attributed to getting rid of my car. While I have been focusing on buying a few fun items, as well as food, and having it all delivered. My brain is still having a hard time adjusting. It didn’t help that the stupid delivery girl couldn’t find my house today and wanted me to walk to the clubhouse before finally asking the manager how to get here.

Anyway, since we have finished with Daniel, I am back to working on my Boundaries Workbook, which keeps me on track and in the right frame of mind.

In other news, I took up smoking again.

HA! Don’t worry, they are the only things I’ll smoke….Dad died of Emphysema so .. I do remember why I quit smoking these, though. Why the hell are they made with Beef Gelatin? I won’t even get into what Gelatin is made of. But hey, I’ve got them now and sometimes it’s okay to eat crap.

Bag Tree & Exercise

Strange things grow here in Las Vegas. A good example is; my Bag Tree

Look closely and you should see two hanging, plastic bags. One, at the upper mid left and the other on the lower right of the tree. Yes, I know the wind caused it, but I have to keep my sense of humor.

Also, I have a great home exercise routine you can do! Believe me, your muscles will feel it.

Pick up a piece of furniture or a heavy box and keep carrying it around and moving it from place to place. You can also vary the pieces and boxes..but be sure to do this for at least half hour at a time. If you really want to make it realistic, twist your foot or have a minor trip or fall, so your muscles feel that, as well.

Seriously, I am still sore from the weekend.
