Do you enjoy shopping at Thrift Stores? I do. You can actually find some nice things.
Cin and I went to the Goodwill today, as I had another full bag to donate and decided to walk around since we had never checked out that one. It’s large and part of a nearby Mall.
At first, I was surprised because for it being large, a lot of the shelves were sparse. Then, I noticed why. As fast as new items are being placed, people are snatching them up. It’s crazy!
I usually go for the books, but unless it’s one I really want, $1.99 seems a bit expensive for a paperback. I did find a deal on something I really needed! A Samsung Television Set with Remote from 2015 for $44.99. My television set is really old and the volume barely works anymore. It’s an LG. But, this new set is really nice and I don’t have to turn it to max and sit close to hear it! Plus, the picture is amazing! A gentleman who was standing near us as we were checking it out said he would purchase it, if I didn’t.
I also got this guy for $2.99
Isn’t he cute? I am not much into sports, but, being originally from California; he brings back memories of the Angel games I attended, plus, he’s Purple!
Cin does crochet and found some inexpensive yarn, while there.
I almost forgot to Post tonight. Maybe the heat is getting to me. Lol. In truth, though, it is 111 F right now at 10 p.m. You won’t hear me complain about it much, though because that is one of the reasons I moved to Las Vegas in the first place!
Here’s a quick, music question for you:
Name a song that you were hearing/singing the wrong lyrics until someone corrected you.
Please don’t say ‘Blinded By The Light’s unless it’s the only one you can remember.
Mine is titled; ‘Oxygen’. The actual lyrics are, “Love is like Oxygen, You get to much, you get to high…’. For years, I thought it said, “Love is like Hotsy Plunge..”. I was like what the heck is a Hotsy Plunge?
Looking forward to hearing your misheard lyrics in the comments.
* I would also love to hear your definitions of a Hotsy Plunge. HA
Before I share this, I want you to know, I watched an interesting movie yesterday which I will be reviewing tomorrow, probably.
Also, my house/mobile home is half painted. Not sure I care for the color, but it’s approved by the park, it will look cleaner and I should be able to sell this place which is what really matters and the main reasons I did this.
And now, I would like to introduce you to:
He is here and he is going to be my bodyguard and house security. That’s his job.
I must say I have some smart I Followers. Katiegirl06460 got it right for today’s topic….You really should check out her blog. Like me, it’s pretty much her daily life…
Anyway, before I continue, just a quick update. Today sucked. I got a double Migraine so bad I almost thought I would wind up in the hospital. I thank God for taking the pain away.
So, today’s Christmas topic is Elves:
Now, I didn’t really feel like doing research on Elves but we all know they help Santa make toys. I have to wonder what requirements are on the application.. aside from some wood working experience. I mean, you would have to be honest if you are going to help Santa with his lists of good and bad children, you would have to work well with others, plus, you would have to like animals since you would be taking care of the reindeer. Plus, some Elves need to be able to cook, sew and clean. But, Santa does provide room and board, and it seems like a lot of fun, I’ve noticed.
The first Elves made most toys from wood and they would literally have to keep track of all the children. Now, with technology, the tracking is easier but they need to know how to work with plastics and machines to crank out the same toys over and over. I don’t think that would be as much fun.
I wonder how many children wanted to be an Elf or where Santa found the Little People, he hired. Were a lot of them family members from those in The-Wizard-Of-Oz? and here’s a thought… Could Santa be related to an Elf in the past?
Just some thoughts before I post tomorrow about Christmas and the letter F. Should be Fun,…but.. maybe not.
My mother used to make Christmas Cookies to share with the hospital staff..I was in the hospital for check-ups a lot due to my disease..and teachers. She made Butter Balls, Bourbon Balls and more! The Bourbon Balls were deliciously strong and you always had to gargle before driving and carry extra in case a policeman pulled you over. I also love Gingerbread Men..Hey, when you get annoyed just bite it’s head off, and Maple Leaves.
So many cartoons were on during Christmas time! Santa Clause Is Coming To Town, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph, and one of my favorites..A Charlie Brown Christmas. …No, I am not getting into the controversy…But, I love the idea of the sad little tree that needed love, the Christmas play with Lucy wanting to be the Christmas Queen and Linus explaining the true meaning of Christmas. What’s your favorite Christmas cartoon?
As for clothing, I love to have reason to dress up. So many clothes are themed now with reindeer, snowmen, Santa, elves and even cats singing carols; and if you don’t like dressing up with themes, the colors of the season are fun, too.
While I know this is my month to share about Christmas…Never mind Christmas in July…Tomorrow is Easter and I hope you all have a good one, however you choose to celebrate.
Yay! It’s April and time for the A-Z Challenge! This year I am going to write about my favorite Holiday which is Christmas! So, let’s start with:
A – Angels
Since Christmas to Christians is the birth of Christ, we believe in and a lot of people collect Angels. We believe an Angel appeared to Mary telling her not to fear when she was with child and also to Joseph telling him to take Mary as his wife. There are many different types of Angels and you can find most all types of items related to them especially around Christmas time.
My friend K, used to collect Angels but has moved a lot and does not have them anymore. I, on the other hand, am not really into them but I did receive an Angel shaped candle at Christmas, which I took the wick out of.
Many Christmas songs are also about Angels; such as ‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ and’The First Noel’.
Tomorrow is B and this should be fun! If I run out of letters, I may sneak some surprises in, so Stay Tuned!
C. had to pick up Ben from work so I asked if I could go along. We passed a restaurant that I cannot pronounce the name ‘Las Pupusa’. I tried it way to many times and even Googled it. I had C. cracking up by either adding too many poo’s,s’ss or la’s, and it wasn’t/isn’t deliberate. My letters just twist when I try to say the word.
After dropping Ben off, we decided to go gambling, again. This time at Rainbow Casino. It was really cool and they even gave us free gifts. C. loaned me $20 which I repaid her plus I even got to spin the wheel and won $50. on it. We also got $12.50 to spend at the restaurant but didn’t want to wait half hour. At least it’s good for 7 days. I left with $30 and bought us dinner at Denny’s.
Came home to find my clothes from Breezecloth.com arrived but don’t want to try them on til tomorrow. I was tired of smelling like smoke and needed to take a bath and crawl in bed. They look nice but the one pair of pants has cat faces with pink cheeks, so if I keep it, I will need to get purple fabric marker or paint to fill that in, before I wear them.
I have decided not to get new windows but to get the outside of the house painted, instead.
I was feeling better today and C. needed to get pajamas to wear to her Sleep Study so she picked me up. We went to a thrift store and I bought a book and a stuffed tiger. C. likes tigers and her Birthday is approaching. Plus, some of those stuffed animals at those places just call to you…sort of like real ones at a shelter..”Take me, I need love.” Unfortunately, C. did not find pajamas there, so we went to Walmart, where she did. Then she wanted to go to lunch at Arizona Charlie’s Casino. The problem with that is we would want to gamble and I had no money so I said Okay and asked her to loan me a $20. After paying back her $20, I left the casino with $120. and C. made $60-80. It was awesome! I put it in the bank and then came home and ordered a few things.
Just finished dinner and dishes and getting really tired, now.
I hope you all had a good St. Patrick’s Day, if you celebrate. I will add that it’s a bit sad how many people don’t. I like most any Holiday where I can dress up and have fun!
