Prompt = Father

This Prompt it brought to you by Peckapaloosa over at The ConfusingMiddle.com. If you haven’t checked out his site, you should! After, you read this Post…and, be careful! No running with scissors or knives… Okay, now that that’s covered:

I am not really into Father’s Day anymore, since my Father has passed. My Mother is also gone but I have friends who are Mother’s plus, I am an animal Mother..but, I digress;

Growing up as a Catholic, we used to call our Priest, “Father” which I now know is totally wrong, for many reasons.

The only one I call and actually have for a “Father” is God! He is the Father,Son and Holy Spirit. He is here to listen when I need to talk and teaches me patience, as well, as the right way to live. He understands me and we have a good relationship. My earthly Father, I called, ‘Dad’ and you bet I miss him. I was a ‘Daddy’s Girl’ but, I am still Christ’s Child and he has taken over since my earthly parents have gone.

Truthfully, I believe they should call ‘Father’s Day’ ‘Dad’s Day’. But, that’s just my opinion.

My New Friend

Before I share this, I want you to know, I watched an interesting movie yesterday which I will be reviewing tomorrow, probably.

Also, my house/mobile home is half painted. Not sure I care for the color, but it’s approved by the park, it will look cleaner and I should be able to sell this place which is what really matters and the main reasons I did this.

And now, I would like to introduce you to:

Jason Voorhees! Friday-The-13th

He is here and he is going to be my bodyguard and house security. That’s his job.

A-Z Challenge-Z = Zzz

This Challenge is over so, I am closing out my coverage and thoughts on Christmas. But, before I do, Zzz is a Scrabble word to describe snoring and sleep.

Anyway, let’s end this, shall we?

Presents have been opened, food has been eaten and guests are gone. Time to box up the decorations and take down the lights and tree until next year. If you went on a trip, you have returned and it’s back to normal life. If you stayed home, it’s once again time to clean before resuming your daily schedule. Some people look forward to going back to work after their Winter break.

All is quiet, now and you need a nap. You deserve it. Good-Night. Zzz.

And tomorrow is back to my True Life Blog on Monday through Saturday’s. I hope you have enjoyed this and look forward to doing it again next year. I wonder what my topic should be? Maybe, Halloween…..

A-Z Challenge-Y = Yankee Swap

Are you ready to learn how to play a cool, party game?

This game has many names and many ways to play. One name for it is Yankee Swap and that’s how I am referring to it since we are on the letter Y. This game is not only played at Christmas, but can be played at other occasions, too.

Here is how I/you/most people play:

Get a group together and have each person bring a wrapped gift. Set a budget or bring something from home.. this is where you can get rule creative. When the person arrives, put the gift on the table and give the person a number. Don’t number the gifts. Once everyone has arrived and has numbers, the game can start. The amount of gifts will equal the amount of people, unless you bring extra.. just in case. Person 1 picks their gift and opens it. Yay, it’s a clock!..No, it does not have to be a clock. It probably won’t be. Let’s not get overly literal, here… 2nd person gets called, they can take the clock…or whatever it is… or open a new gift. If they take the clock…or whatever it is…, Person 1 opens a new gift..and so on .until all gifts are off the table. Gifts can be swapped 3x and once you have had a gift in your hands, you can’t get it back.

Some people don’t like this game, but, I think it’s fun! We played it at my Wedding Shower, though and my relatives were holding on to everything so when my turn came, I turned to my new Aunt and said, “I love you Aunt Jod, but I really love your candle.” and took it; thereby causing her to Swap. My mother got annoyed saying I was terrible and should not have done that because I was the Bride; but, that’s how you play the game!

Usually, you get some funny and some serious gifts, which is what makes it even more fun. At my church Swap, someone even brought a Betta Fish with bowl and food.

So, now you have a new party game to try! I hope you play it, sometime and find it fun.

And tomorrow is Z. The last letter of the alphabet. Endings always make me sad.

But, don’t worry, I have come up with tomorrow’s word, and will do this again next year.

A-Z Challenge-Q = Quest

Have I mentioned lately that I have super, smart, Followers? Well, my favorite, recovering slob nailed it, this time. If you haven’t checked out her site, you should

PurpleSlobinrecovery20.design.blog.

, I believe. She can correct me in the comments, if I’m wrong.

Anyway, onto our Christmas Quest:

Have you ever been on the Quest to find the perfect gift? Maybe, you want to get something unique, that noone including the recipient would think of, or maybe it’s something specific they asked for.

When I was young, I believe it was the Cabbage Patch Doll. My parents had to go to store after store discovering they were sold out before finally finding one. This was before the internet and cell phones… when people simply waited in lines at stores hoping the popular toy was in stock.

Or, even going to the mall with friends at Christmas time was a Quest. You had your list of people and possible ideas, but there was a time frame and budget to get it all done.

And tomorrow is R. It might be a little advice to help you out. I’ll give you a hint. It’s not Rudolph! Lol

A-Z Challenge-M = Magic

There is a Magic in the air at Christmas! I can feel it.

Maybe it’s the sense of hope, laughter, excitement and wonder. Maybe, it’s a child experiencing their first Christmas, a lover proposing, friends and relatives visiting from afar, receiving or giving that perfect gift, experiencing your first snowfall, or maybe it’s as simple as being off work for the holiday and not having to get out of your pajamas. Whatever it is, I have experienced it and I experience it, in different ways every year at Christmas time.

I hope that after you read this challenge, you will experience the Magic of Christmas, and maybe look at it, in a way you never have, before.

Tomorrow is N,and I was thinking; we might take a trip to a place that starts with that letter. I’m told it’s pretty cold there, so pack some warm clothing…and I’ll see you, then.

A-Z Challenge-H = Holly

I was going to add the word, Holiday, but we all know it’s my favorite Holiday which is why I am covering it for this challenge.

So, let’s learn a bit about Holly:

While Holly is a very, pretty plant and nice to decorate with, it also has a history of religious meaning.

In Scandinavia, Holly is known as Christ’s Thorn and some Christians believe the prickly leaves of Holly represent the Crown Of Thorns placed on the head of Jesus during the crucifixion and the berries represent the drops of blood caused by those thorns. An interesting way to think about Holly, next time you decorate.

And tomorrow is I. Not quite sure just where that will take me. Could be personal or might just be an cold subject.

A-Z Challenge-G = Gifts

The first gifts were given by the Wise Men to the baby Jesus of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh per Christian beliefs.

I think the reason we give to each other is to show our love for others the same way the Wise Men celebrated Jesus Birth. There are no physical Gifts we can give to Jesus Christ so we must give to those close to us.

But, must we? Gifts should be given freely and with an open heart. Not a “Oh, since he got me something, I Have to get him something.”. Gifts should not be obligatory nor should you expect to receive. In my opinion, Gifting should be done with care based on what the person would really appreciate. If you try for a gag Gift, be sure you know their sense of humor. I have shared before that I am a Gifter. I keep lists of what to who and when so as not to repeat from one year to the next.

A-Z Challenge-F = Frosty & Family

No, I am not talking about Frostys Family.

We all know the story of Frosty-The-Snowman made with a corncob pipe, a button nose and his eyes made out of coal. We saw how the Magician lost his hat and the children put it on Frostys head before he came to life. For a while, the adults didn’t believe them. Then he came back in Frosty Returns and helped a little girl to stay warm while at the North Pole and having Santa give her a ride home, only to melt before she leaves. It teaches us to hang on to the magic of Christmas even as adults. One thing I just learned, is that Frosty-The-Snowman movie or cartoon was released on my 5th Birthday! Maybe that’s why it’s one of my favorites.

As far as family, our family met every year at my parents for Christmas.. sometimes with a few friends. I won’t say we all got along because there was always some sort of drama, but we managed and had fun making memories. Since both parents are gone, we have all gone our separate ways and sometimes I miss even those forced family celebrations.

As far as family being related to Frosty; just go back to the drama, I just mentioned.

A-Z Challenge – D = Decorating & Department Stores

And, it’s Monday!  Back to the Challenge and my favorite Holiday… Christmas!

Let’s talk about Decorating:

I love Decorating for Christmas.  If I had a big house and a bit of money, I would love to Decorate the entire yard for people to drive by.  Some people take months to Decorate their homes.  Decorating for Christmas inside or outside is easy and doesn’t have to be expensive.  Use ribbons, bows and fabrics, use stuffed animals and dress them for the season…Add cardboard or even pictures of Christmas related items such as Santa and Reindeer.. Maybe, put a Nativity outside to remind people of the real reason for the season, and play some Christmas music out the window to add to the ambiance.  As for inside, string popcorn, tape cards or pictures on the walls, hang socks beside the fireplace or draw one to hang near them.  If you have a tree, decorate that.  Or, just put out anything you own in Christmas colors of red, green, silver and gold.

Now, let’s visit the Department Stores, or at least the catalog:

Sears was a big, Department Store when I was growing up…long before the internet, computers, etc…when children played outside until the street lights came on…but I digress…Anyway, the Sears (and Robucks, I believe) catalog came out every year just for Christmas.  We children, would go through that catalog until the pages were worn making lists of things we wanted from our parents, relatives and Santa Clause.  After Christmas, we…most girls, anyway… would cut pictures of people out of the catalog and have paper families to play with…Oh, you never did that?  Well, to bad.  It helped develop my imagination… Anyway, Christmas was the best time to visit Department Stores because of all the fun Decorations they put up.

Tomorrow is E.  Bet you can’t guess where I might go with it.  I’ll give you a hint… it’s Christmas related. HA!  Sorry, if that wasn’t Helpful.
