15 Minutes

Just read an article about Florida and some people living in some condos…not the ones that came down…were given 15 minutes to get whatever belongings they can out of their homes.  Apparently, the condo has been inspected and deemed unsafe so the management is deciding what to do.

Let’s think about that for a minute!

What could you get out of your house in 15 minutes? You have already gotten yourself and your animals out. If it were me, I would probably be grabbing the first things I can which would hopefully be some of my packed boxes mainly books and collectibles and Puma! I would also try to grab my photo albums and Yearbooks, if I had time to focus. 15 minutes is not a long time!

I guess some people got food, medicine and clothes, one person got their fish tank…no idea if there was anything in it.

But, just like the game, if you had to leave and take only 3 things with you, what would they be…I ask, what would you try to get out if you only had 15 minutes?

Blog is true. Names are fictional.

  1. i would think the first thing is to offer the tenents a way to pack up and move to a more safe condo and find them a temporary place until they find something.

    1. But wait, People are already out! So are animals, probably. You have 15 minutes to go back in for stuff;. Otherwise, it would probably take the whole 15 minutes getting my cats into carriers! Lol

  2. That is such a difficult question being that my house is filled one end to the other with stuff from family members most that are long gone. I hope I never have to actually face the prospect of this.

      1. The one thing I know especially, would be the small locket that has a tiny canister that has some of my later husband’s hair. Maybe all of the memory cards in my desk holding years worth of photos. But yeah, other than that, what ever was within reach.

      1. No, it’s funny though that you noticed how that sounds odd! Nah, it sits in the garage but an air conditioned garage would be nice.

  3. I would not comply. Simple as that. I would take all the time I needed. Regardless of the reason, this is an “eviction”, and Florida has numerous laws that prevent sudden eviction. I am not saying I would not heed the warning, just not in fifteen minutes. And the Condo board cannot evict you.

  4. Purse, files, clothes, medication, electronics (as many as I could!). Electronics are so expensive to replace, other things would be cheaper to replace in my opinion.
